The range by my house is open even though there is still some snow on the ground. Got me thinking about what I want to work on this year. For me I am going to start with balance, I don't follow through to a very good finish like all pros do so I am going to work on my foot work. Going back to basics I guess.

for me, consistency of swing. I had a real breakthrough year last year and followed it up with some good rounds in FL this winter. I would like to continue with the same swing and be able to repeat it. I think gettting out to play will also wind up being a bit of a challenge with a newborn on the way. Can;t seem to convince the wife to let me build a baby station on the back of the golf cart

Three years ago I began setting a goal at the beginning of the year, to lower my handicap. It has worked for me in the past, so I will just try to do the same. Specifically though, I want to see if I can improve my short game because it felt like I gave back a bit last year even though I achieved my goal overall.

Putting - eliminate 3 putting. Didn't track how many, but as far as I'm concerned ONE is too many!
Chipping - need to find a way to get a bit more loft on certain shots, while not losing touch.

Of course I need to do all of this without losing any ground in my driving and pitching.
Tis far better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Miles Austin - WR, DAL
Justin Tuck - DE, NYG
Joe Flacco - QB, BAL
Rolando McClain - LB

I am hoping balance will bring some consistency as I had two rounds of 80 last year and a couple so bad I stopped keeping score.

Hit the first bucket of balls Monday and it went pretty well. The start of this season I have to work my Driver, last year was a step backwards with what's normally the best part of my game.

We bring our own and tip the beer cart girl for ice so she won't rat on us.

I went last night to have a video analysis of my swing done. I was amazed, REALLY amazed of how my swing looked. It was 39.00 for an hour session which was well worth it. I was lifting my head and raising my body which was causing the fat shots with my irons. I also was bending my left arm which I didn't have a clue I was doing. I am confident I will lower my handicap 6 to 7 strokes.

I take it was a high speed camera? I have thought of doing this with my video camera but don't really want to see my fat self twisted in the back swing.

Actually your backswing and position at the top are really good imo, like you said follow through and footwork.

Most people, myself included are sadly dissapointed when they see their swing on video. We all think our swing looks "somewhat" like what we see on TV when in fact most of us aren't even close. It's a great training aid, I like the side by side comparision to your old vs new after corrections view. The first thing almost everybody says when the pro at my club shows them their video is "Wow I need to drop a few pounds".

Yeah I think we have circus mirrors in our house because I always look 25 pounds heavier on film.

Ha, just had a thought, how long until one day when one of us old timers says "on film" and some kid says "what's that?"

I guess it was, he could stop it at any point in my swing. He could also draw lines showing spine angles, club angles, it showed the left arm being in line with the ball at impact, it was very cool

I went out the first time this year and shot 82. The second round I shot 98. I am just all over the place with my consistency. I feel that seeing exactly what I was doing is really going to help. Best 39.00 I've spent since I know when

Went out Saturday, first day after the lesson, shot a 85, 5 under my handicap. Went and played today, really couldn't keep score due to the amount of rain we've had lately and they were putting some chemicals on the greens then watering them, so most of the greens had standing water. I hit 11 out of 17 greens which is remarkable for me. Most of the time I only hit 3 or 4 greens a round. Most are chip and a Putt, or 2 or 3

I'm at least a month away from putting a tee in the ground. Sounds like great results from the lesson. Posted Image
